A summer hot as hell, but sweet as an apple pie

Dear reader, I owe you an apology. I haven’t been able to update my blog for a long while. I have been busy: office work, house work, and baby care. In addition to that, my Internet connection had been cut off for a while.

But, I haven’t stopped cooking – and writing – though. Even in the heat of the Indian summer, I cooked every weekend. One such session was my first pie-baking experience. I made, with my mother, an apple pie the very first time, although I had lived so many years in America.

That experience is recorded in an article I wrote for InMamasKitchen.com, an Internet site run by a gracious lady called Diana Serbe. Read my article on her site, if you will.

Let me know what you think about the article and about baking an apple pie. Don’t hesitate to give me any tips. BTW, thanks to all those who've posted comments so far.

Until then, au revoir.

I stumbled upon your blog sometime around 6 months back and was excited to see a Bengali blogging from Kolkata. But then the long silence made me think that you had given up....so it is nice to see you back.

Hope to see more frequent posts in future :)

Hi there,

Thanks. I am back, indeed.

P.S. Sorry for my long absence -- some other things took up all of my spare time.

I enjoyed your article. As an American who has visited Kolkata, I applaud your ability to make a good apple pie in such a warm place. A few years ago, I was visiting an American friend who lives in Salt Lake and made an apple pie for a group of children who live in her neighborhood. Although I grew up making pies, I must say my attempt was met with eyes that rolled and tongues that stopped after the first bite. You, your wife and mother must have made a wonderful pie for your mother to enjoy it so much. Maybe you could teach me a thing or two!
